The 'Girl in Space' is surrounded by the vastness and dominance of the universe, but yet the 'Girl' still competes quite aggressively for photographic real estate. It is this scale that illustrates the imagined self importance of the human race in the universe. It is that ego that is inflated beyond all belief. Specifically, the girl is vastly disproportionate to the planet that looks as though it could fit into the palm of her hand. The figure, 'girl in space', is placed at a distance that is more intimate than the stars of far off worlds and is meant to articulate this attitude, but also to italicize the greater picture; the multi-verses within ourselves and the inconsequentiality of the existence of the self in grand architecture of space.
