And when you say 'dodge', you mean color dodge?
Also I think the color you used is a little too bright for a demon sig.
And, I miss the shadow xD
I'll use this and tweak it a bit with what I know

Smudge it but overlay the smudge layers on the dodge setting, so that it looks nice!
Dodge is a setting for the one of the layers, in the layers palette.
Show me your outcome when you finish!
